I have an IBM Thinkpad Laptop with a 2Ghz processor and 1GB ram running windows xp pro.
Could someone take a look at this screen shot of my task manager and tell me what I should close (except firefox and paint which I was using then). I have 88 processes running! ![]() |

Actually I am generally very careful of what I run on my computer and when I started looking up what different .exe files that were running belonged to, I started coming up with a lot of IBM utilities. So what I did was I went to the computer store (same place from where I bought mine) and walked up to a brand new IBM Z61t (same brand as mine), with nothing but the initial software installed and I hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and came up with 70 processes!!
Here's a snapshot of the store computer: ![]() |

just google each process. the first result is usually from the website liutilities.com which is an excellent site. it will tell you what program is using the process, if it is essential, or if it is known spyware/virus
