You saw Vista drivers go on most likely. Click the show details button on the top one of the two updates to see "audio console for Vista only" when choosing XP as the version. The second is for XP/SP2 seen at http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?MainCategory=1&nRegionFK=&nCountryFK= &nLanguageFK=&sOSName=Windows+XP&region=1&Product_ Name=Live%21+24-bit&Product_ID=10315&modelnumber=&driverlang=1033& OS=10&drivertype=0&x=12&y=17

Once you remove the current software/drivers and download the second and see that go on set the speaker settings to 5.1 before restarting the system. By default the system should then load in the 5.1 configuration.
