discs are cheap and has decent storage. but hd's and flash media are getting cheap as well and at an alarming rate.
there are special line of discs with protective layer that makes it 20x more scratch resistant. special lines of verbatim, maxells, moser bayer come to mind. if you're a scratcher get some of these. i take good care of my discs and all my discs are scratch free until i loan them out to people.
