Angry Again, video converter

I want to do some tutorials (video tutorials).
I have the program which records the desktop activity and outputs it as AVI but the quality is not that good. Have anybody try VMWARE 6 new feature called capture movie ?..well i like the quality, its high and its like you're really looking at your desktop. But there's 1 problem, movie captured by vmware is avi and SONY VEGAS (program i use to put text on video) cannot use avi created by vmware.

also no matter what program i use (so far Imtoo mpeg encoder & Xilisoft converter) fails to convert VMware's avi movie, so my question is :

is there something wrong or some kind of protection on the vmware recorded movie ?..cause nothing can convert it and if the program does convert it the display is GARBISH

I know this doesnt help, but VMWARE, is this a free program?

Ii used Camstasia for mine but it doesnt seem compatiable with Vista (or my pc is playing silly buggers with me) and have been looking for another good one, do you recommend VMWARE?

Also, try looking at this:
http://www.vmware.com/download/converter/
havnt tried it, jus found it on their website then, dont know if it helps but i hope it does
