My $343 computer build.. Advice needed.
I'm thinking about building a real low end computer just to see if I can do it and if all goes well this computer will become my project computer that I will eventually fine tune into a really powerful computer..
But in order to get started I just spent the past few minutes on newegg compiling all of the parts that I'll need to build this low end rig.. The following is my list,.. I'm pretty new at all of this so if you see that any of my parts are not compatible please let me know.. Also things like CPU fans and ribbon cables for the HDD and opticals, do those come with the components or do I need to buy those separate as well? When all is said and done this computer will cost $343... Any questions comments or input are would be greatly appreciated! |

Overpriced case and not so great psu, i'd rather get this combo which is much better and get 2 gigas of ram even if it's DDR2 667 which they're around the same price as that single 1gb from adata, get a sata hard drive instead also get a sata optical since they're pretty much around teh same price as the ide like those links:

It's all about cheap cheap cheap.. Cheapest possible model of each component basically, because they're all going to be disposable should it work out, and if it all goes horribly wrong, it was only a $343 mistake.. And I actually like my case WAY better.. I'm splurging on the case because it'll probably be the only thing that will live through all of the upgrades and will eventually house my super computer.. you said you're fine tune it into a powerful computer so then means you'll eventually need to buy another psu so might as well buy a good one now so you dont have to rewire everything when the new psu comes in.

go run your fine tuned pc later on with a psu on a 12amp or something and see what problems you'll run into.
