Default quick question about RAID

I had to install RAID drivers last time I installed XP because I did not know you could disable raid (or SATA i dont remember the option) on the bios setup and install windows without problem
(I could not install windows without the drivers because it was set by default on RAID on the bios)

the question is,, Will there be a difference if I install XP without the drivers this time? swithching to IDE on the setup,,

Were those drivers doing anything at all there? I did not configure any RAID I only have one HD.

thanks!

Some motherboards still require drivers for SATA in general. This is installed when you install RAID drivers. But regardless if SATA/RAID is enabled or not, you don't need the drivers if you use an IDE drive.

I see,, so if my HD is SATA is it recomended that I install the RAID+SATA drivers?

rather than configure the SATA as IDE (this way windows can be installed w/o pressing f6 etc)

I'm gonna install the drivers anyway..

thanks a lot for the response other one.
