Once you have disabled the drivers/software from loading along with the onboard being disabled the ATI drivers are no longer being loaded at startup but simply sitting in the system32 folder taking up space. The first you would likely see would be the NVidia installer presenting a message about existing drivers needing to be removed before any driver conflict could even occur if there is clash with them remaining on the system.

When swapping out an ATI card for an NVidia model you are then required to see everything removed totally being in the same type of device catagory. The installer for the new card will stall right away.
