Default Winzip Pass-wording

greetings;

i am running an older version of winzip. i want to password protect a zipped file so that when i send that file to someone, it will require a password to open and view the contents.

i have found the "selection" for pass-wording and have applied a password. however, after i close the winzipped file. i merely click on it and winzip opens it w/o effort and does not ask me for a password!...what did i do wrong?

You have to add the password before you zip up the files, so that when they are zipped, then they are password protected

.....thanks! as it worked. however, i was more looking to password the zip file so that the "zip icon" couldn't be opened at all and so that nobody could view the contents instead of what the contents contained. if i can't do that then, well, i'll be happy to have gotten this far......thanks again!

No, that is not possible in winzip or winrar for that matter, just passwording taking files out of the zip file not blocking the contents is possible, sorry but glad i could help this far
