Hopefully the sound chip didn't go on you there. That could be one reason other then something making the drivers inactive.

With the SIW tool that will show the information on that as well as everything. Then you can go after the correct set of drivers to see those reinstalled.

Have you tried selecting the update driver option to see if Windows will locate a newer version? If you see the latest are installed message then you will have to select the uninstall option there to see a reinstall once the correct set is known. The image here shows how SIW lists far more details under the sound, video, and game controller heading.
