Default Web Developers.....Questions for you!

Hey Web Developers:

I have worked with FrontPage 2002 and Dreamweaver 8 for some time. I have pretty much mastered the coding part of the Website Development....however I am having problems with the Layout & Design part.

I have heard that Photoshop is a great program for designing the graphics, layout and design of your website? Does anyone agree?

Thanks

Photoshop is great, yes.
But look at Adobe Fireworks, it's more of a Vector Image program, so it's will be better for creating buttons, logos... that sort of thing, I think it's great!

So is Adobe Fireworks, the Photoshop for Web Design?

Can Fireworks be used to design the entire page layout?

Thanks!

Yes, Everyone designs the page with Photoshop and then making layouts and export it. I always do it. You have to use the Slice tool.

For a rollover button and/or link, do you have to utilize flash?

Thats what you create the web site in, Fireworks and Flash are what you use to make contents that you add.

No, You insert a link within Dreamweaver. You can make the roll-over images in Flash or Fireworks, then Dreamweaver sorts it out for you and they work on your site.

Dont forget that Dreamweaver has its own built in Flash Buttons which are easy to use but i use Photoshop not Fireworks, even when making things as simple as buttons, i think Fireworks is just a more basic tool than Photoshop for people who arent that experienced with these programs.

I would suggest not trying to learn Flash if all you are going to do is use it for buttons, just use the Dreamweave PreBuild ones as Flash is a tricky program and would take a while to learn.

You're wrong.
Fireworks is a vector based image program, for making stuff like buttons, banners and logos.

Photoshop, well, what's in it's name, 'Photo', it's more for editing images and such.

Fireworks is better for creating buttons for use on websites and Dreamweaver.
