Default bottleneck?

Hey this is my setup

2gb gskill ddr2 800 ram
pentium d 915
8800gts 640mb

whats the bottleneck?

if its the cpu im changin it in a cpl days to either a e6850 or q6600

which one would you recommend

6850 if you dont overclock
6600 if you overclock

it is the cpu even though you didnt say the speed of it.

The processor is really holding you back. Most games are only single threaded, so in reality it's like your playing with a Pentium 4 2.8, which is a really poor performer in the gaming department.

A Core 2 Duo will make a significant improvement. And as Kof said, if you plan to overclock, save some money and buy a lower end C2D, and overclock it.

its just that the q6600 has 4 cores and the e6850 has only 2 and i wouldnt know which is faster at all

If you're mainly a gamer, then right now the E6850 would be better, since most games only use one core, while only a select few utilize dual-cores. It will take quite some time for quad-cores to really show an improvement over dual-cores.
