I decided to upgrade my memory. Went to Best Buy and bought the type of memory in my computer (Sony PCV-RS630G). The memory required is PC3200 400Mhz 256 184 pin DIMM. Upgrading to 1024G from the 512 that came with the computer. I installed the 2 new DIMMS and tried to boot but the computer, it just cycled power a few times before I turned it off. I tried to boot in safe mode but it would try to load windows then reboot before windows came up each time I tried.
I know I could have some bad memory but I have some other questions. When I checked Kingstons site they listed another part number for the Sony I have. Apparently the type sold at Best Buy and others I guess is a generic "untested" type? The specs are right so I figure it should work? I didn't think memory would be so picky? The Kingston part number that they have tested is D3264D30A. Thanks John |
