Default HD Problem

During the day I made a system recovery on my HP( inbuilt function it came with). I received warnings on losing everything
on my documents folder. I had no choice but to go on with the recovery since the root of my problem relied on corrupted window files which failed to accept any system console changes. I also don't have the XP CD since the computer didn't came with it.

After all the process was done, I deleted useless files within my factory setting computer but still my disk C appears to not detect the recent changes of the recovery. It says that it has 48gb of space while initially it's a 180gb hard drive. I tried a disk defragment but while in the process I noticed that it was degragmenting the files I lost. I did a general search on my computer for such files and they aren't anywhere to be found. Anyone knows what might be wrong?

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like windows has done a Quickie on you...

Maybe you have a system Restore Point

Start-
-All Programs
-Accessories
-System tools
-System Restore

Try Restoring your computer to an earlier date before it started screwing up.
