Default Pci Express 4x - 16x

I have a mobo thats running a 4x pci-e which is lower than a agp (8x) When I get a new mobo that has 16x what differences will I see? I know my processor is probably a bottle neck. Video card is a 7600gt 256mb gddr3. This is what it says in PC wizard:

Bus PCI-Express :
Device : PT890 PCI to PCI Bridge
Version : 1.0
Port : 0
Physical Slot : #2
Slot Populated : Yes
Link Width : x4 (max. x4)
Link Speed : 2.5 GB/s

Bus PCI-Express :
Device : GeForce 7600 GT
Version : 1.0
Port : 0
Link Width : x4 (max. x16)
Link Speed : 2.5 GB/s

You wont see that big of a difference with only a 7600GT, but you will with higher end cards.

They dont show cards like the 7600GT, but you can see the differences between some of the high-end ATI and nVidia cards. http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/03/...sis/page8.html

With a 7600gt? Little to none at all. It really depends on if the games you play are more CPU dependent than normal, like a RTS.
