remote control

whats up with wired remote controls? i thought those went away in the 80's...is it really that hard to make a remote wireless? i want to get a system by creative, but i can't find one with a wireless remote unless i get the 5.1 gd580 which is kind of overkill for my notebook listening needs. right? or does anyone have advice? any other brands offer wireless remotes on 2 speaker systems?
