It never did this when I overclocked before, but now that I need to overclock to beat a core2duo my computer wont boot when im overclocked passed like 225 (12% overclocked), it wont even get past the bios screen , it says warning! system is now in safe mode, please reset CPU frequency, or somehting like that.. I have Cool'N'quiet off. why would it do this now? when I get the warning screen I can chose to bypass it by hiting F1, but then it boots and statys with stock settings (not overclocked at all)
Thanks

ok.. well I decided to install the overclocking utility for my mobo and oc that way for now, but it locks up when I hit 13%.. I got this processor up to like 33% before. whats goig on.. Cool'N'quiet is off, and I have the core running at 1.5-1.6 at all times when trying to oc (even tho the program does not show that for some reason).. this processor is only like 5 months old and it has only been overclocked 5% all its life (minus a week of fun testing to see what It could do).. Can it just be gettin tired already???.. I never let the temp see over 65*C at MAX when gaming but it never really goes above 55ish. Thanks

Raise some voltages. On my biostar motherboard, I can raise CPU voltage, as well as RAM voltages (which really helps in ocing). I would getsome better TP as well as an better HSF

I keep the core regulator at 1.5-1.6 or so when overclockig, and ram is always 1.7 (think) those are the only 2 voltages right?

Yes I think so. Depends on the motherboard. Some motherboards will only let you change FSB, not any voltages. Give the voltage a tiny boost. see if ya get any farther. Remember when uppin voltages to keep an eye on the temperatures. Overclocking without looking at temps could lead you to a friend mobo/cpu.

Then that is the maximum your motherboard or cpu will allow. Right now I would be focused on benchmarking scores (see how much of an improvement) and stability. Run any free burn-in test or something for a few hours. But remember what I said about the temperatures. If its at 55C already and your putting a load on it, it may get a bit messy.

If your board doesnt have a PCI bus lock and your overclocking past about a 215MHZ FSB your probable freaking out your harddrives, if it does try setting your Hypertransport from X5 to X4 and bump your ram from 400 to 333. When you overclock your FSB it overclocks your HT and ram
