Hey all, have a couple of problems with my wireless card. Recently bought a cable and wireless pcmcia card for my laptop. The card is a 802.11g 108Mbps High speed card and im using it on a compaq presario 2500 laptop (a little dated i know) with a cable and wireless mimo adsl2 router. The problems are as follows and I wonder if anyone can help me with these issues?
1. everytime i start my laptop with tht card in the pcmcia slot the computer brings up the found new hardware box and proceeds to ask me to install drivers, which do not seem to exist on the computer (XP SP2 should detect it automatically) This is remedied by taking the card out and reinserting it while the computer is on upon which it is detected automatically. Is there anyway to set this so that it is detected each time without having to remove and reinsert the card? 2. when logged onto the wireless network, It frequently brings up the network connections dialogue box asking me to connect via dial up. When I cancel this the wireless works as normal. I was previously using a dialup ASDL modem (not a router). The signal is detected as excellent so its not a problem with the strength. Does anyone have any suggestions for this? I do not want to uninstall the old connection, as I still use it when im at my parents house. 3. Im having a lot of problems securing m network. Is there a step by step guide to doing this? I keep managing to lock myself out of the network. I appreciate any advice given, and thanks for the time taken! Doc |
