Default Wireless Internet To Desktop?

Ok, I am upgrading to Wireless internet from Dial up next week, And ive heard that the way were are doing it, the ISP is only giving us the Antennae and running a Normal Blue network cable down through our room and thats it.

What my question is, Is what do i now need to share my internet between 4 Computers.

Will i need to buy a Wireless Router? If so, then what do i do? Just plug that network cable from ISP into the wireless router?

I have a 24 Port Switch in my room, Could i then plug a Network cable from the Wireless router straight into the 24 Port Switch and then have computers automatically get internet if they plug into that switch?

Or is there other things i have to do before the internet will be automatically shared?

Connecting to that 24 port switch is my server, My personal computer, Family and a laptop.

Im not too keen on buying a wireless card for each computer, besides the laptop that already has one...

The Server is already set up for DHCP.

Thanks In Advance.

i reckon you just plug the blue cable right into your switch.
If you want wireless networking, you can get a wireless access point and plug that into the switch with everything else.

if the ISP is sending blokes round to install it you can just ask them, they'd know...

the antenna wouldnt have a network cable as the output, it would have a coaxial cable.. so im guessing that theres a modem somewhere in the line, otherwise you wouldnt have a network cable.

they wouldnt just give you an antenna and expect you to sort the rest out yourself...

you should get one with the setup, if you need one, you sure its not like a pci card you plug in you computer that uses cell phone towers? it just sounds wierd.

I'm not 100% Sure, I'm going through a mates company, He works for the ISP.

So if there is a Modem somewhere in the line and they give a Network cable as output, I could just plug that into the 24 Port Switch and it would automatically share internet with computers that plug into the switch?

isp usually dont like seeing more than one ip address coming back, and routers wireless or not are so much easier to setup and maintain than switches plus theres so many different features that i use to keep myself entertained.

ya plus there is so many features for gamers and extra security, and i would think about wireless one too there about the same price and the wireless can be shut off if you dont want to use it. for a brand of router i would recomend linksys,
never had any problems with them.
