Hey all, have a question for all you computer buffs our there
![]() ive got a compaq presario m2000 that has served me well for a couple of years, but it died on my yesterday :'( it simply refused to turn on and i noticed it had somthing small well, 'floating' around inside it that i heard when i shook it around. At first i thought the battery died, so i plugged it in but it wouldnt charge, then i tried it on a different socket and nothing changed. So i earthed myself, sat down with a screw drived and took out the battery, HDD, and had a look at the ram. I could not get a glimpse of the thing inside it that ratteling inside, but otherwise everything else was fine. So i put everything back, plugged the charger back in, and magically it turned back on! The only upgrades ive made on this lappy is i got another 256mb ram and upgraded the HDD to a 80gb 7200RPM one... As soon as i turned it on, it took about 20 minutes to start up fully, and did a microsoft update. But it left me completly puzzled, what could it stop it from starting let alone charging? Why would it work once took the HDD and battery out and put them back? What could be the random ratteling object? Cheers in advance for any help ps i have never dropped this laptop, or bumped it hard enough to cause a problem... |

as far as the rattling object, i cant think of what it might be. i suggest pulling the bottom case off and checking it out, cause rattling annoys the crap out of me...download the manual off of the hp/compaq site and see what you can do.
