Default Lost Laptop, file a police reports, now what?

Like the title says. I just lost my new laptop. Its a HP Pavilion dv90335nr. I just got it about one week ago.

I file the police reports just now and got a case number from them. It does not seems that there is much I can do right now.

The police told me to tell me person who owns the house (aka my manager) to call the insurance company and have them replace the laptop.

I and the police went over to my manager's house and the police asked him some questions. one of the question is who owns the house and if it has home owner's insurance.

My manager says he is the owner of the house and the house is insured. He is going to call the insurance company tomorrow he says.

what should I expect from the insurance company? the police says they will replace the laptop and I should give them the police case number.

does anybody have any experience with this kind of things? Will the insurance company replace my laptop? if so, how long? I don't think I can stay in the restaurant that I am working at much longer now that this has happened. My manager was not happy.

If i leave here will the insurance company sent the laptop to my house on my request? will they sent cross sate?

any help is appreciated.

thanks everybody

I called them and they told me to fax them some informations. But they can't tell me how long it will take.

Whats more surprising for me other then my lost laptop is that the police can't do much too. they just came and looked around the room and give me a case number and thats it.
