hey i ordered vista and this 1gb stick came free with it from newegg, but when i plugged it in, vista said that it wanted to use it to make my system faster? what is it going on about?

oh its calling it a ready boost file, and its 230MB in the usb drive. anyone know what this is, what it does, and if its worth it?

Pretty Much, It takes advantage of the high speed of USB 2 to allow you to use a USB stick as an extension to your RAM.

huh, that sounds interesting, but i cant see it being very fast, i mean even a 64mb chip had something like 184 pins, whereas this stick only has 4. i think that will restrict its speed

^^ it does restrict the speed, its nowhere near as fast as actual ram, but its better than nothing for people who have little ram.
