Default Vista C++ runtime error

I get an abnormal program termination error on occasions when I use programs on Vista, I have 4GB of ram, and an AMD 5000+ dual core CPU, the programs all have the termination error when they use almost half of my ram... for example, Blender 3d (modeling and animation software) uses that much ram while rendering, and on high detail setting will cause the error, as will Oblivion,X3 Reunion, and Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0, All these programs worked fine on XP, I've tried the "Run as Administrator" fix, and the "Run under compatability settings for XP sp2" fix, Does anyone know of another way to get these programs to run without the error message?
