Default Computer having random slow points!!

Since my cousin got his computer here, he also added another 1gb ram and got an X1950Pro graphics card. When he first put the graphics card in the power supply wasn't powerful enough so he got this one.
Since his computer has been put together he keeps experiencing "slow" moments, where the computer will just go slow for about 2 seconds and then carry on normally. Like, say he's listening to music, all of a sudden it'll go slow and the words almost slur out. But then it's ok again.
Understandably he's not very happy, i wonder if any one has a diagnosis?

Thanks.

Did he update his video drivers when he installed the new card? Might be a good idea to update the chipset drivers too. Tell him to keep his Task Manager up and see if theres something kicking in. Could be a background program, but it would have to be one hell of one to slow music down on a X2 4600.

Ty mate, i'll phone him tomorrow. He won't like me waking him up at this time. He has school in the morning.

It seems a bit strange to me as well, i've never seen anything like it. Well, not on a dual core cpu!!

I'll report back tomorrow evening, because no doubt he'll want me to go round.
