Default New HP9005us laptop, trouble sharing printer

Recently purchased a new hp pavilion9005us laptop and i'm having trouble networking it with my Desktop computer. I have a Belkin wireless router that works great but shouldn't i be able to share the desktop printer through a shared file and print wirelessly via my laptop.

it would help to know if youre running XP or vista. try finding the printer computer's shared folder on the network. the printer should be in that.

I'm running windows XP on my desktop and Windows Vista on my laptop...would a firewall keep me from sharing folders?
