Default Using your TV screen.

We have 6 TVs in our house, one computer, I'm wondering what's involved in running TV type programs from the internet through the TVs, I've found a few websites with decent stuff to watch, how do I check my computer to see if it's TV compatable ? someone said it needs S Video Out, a PC manual I have mentions TV-out. my comp is an SR1500NX Compaq Presario with the 2nd service pack.

Thanks in advance.

you must have a graphic card with , yes, you said it right, TV out or S-video out and its cable to connect to tv. Nvidia and ATI both have the options to configure tv output
here's a typical graphic card with tv out

I'm a movie junkie and I watch a lot of movies/shows... I use an SVideo cable and watch my stuff on a big screen. It's super easy. Plug in the svideo cable to both, go to display, then advanced, right click on the second monitor and click attached, then apply. Don't expect good quality though unless you're using DVI. SVideo is kinda bad quality for reading text and stuff but for movies it's alright

i really don't suggest using s-video..I plug in my laptops to huge tvs all the time, but that's only for watching movies..It's really hard to read stuff, so if your video card has a DVI port, newegg.com and monoprice.com have dvi to hdmi adapters for around $6, and you can run your programs in 1920x1080 (if your tv supports it).

Thanks for your input everyone. this is my computer.

Doesn't appear I have the graphic card you posted patrickv, if I get this set up can I run it to all the TVs using the standard coax cable ?
I won't be needing this for reading text so much, mostly just for watching TV programs.

this is a standard compaq pc, then im sure it has 3 PCI slots in it.
so you have to purchase a graphic card that support PCI, and have at least
a tv-out connection

check your picture well, those horizontal metal banking below the audio connections can be removed, you'll see when you open up your PC
