scroll jumps

usually when I scroll down using the R side button/bar, it moves smoothly (this is when using Word)

but today, when I get to about half way down the page, the document/screen jumps to the next page (this is at the point where the next page upper margin has just entered the screen)

How do I get things back the way they were so that when scrolling, it'll move smoothly and let me read the bottom half of the page

fortunately the scroll is not jumping this evening
