Default mouse help

hey wats goin on wit evryine hope ya wknd was good
question im morkin on my frineds pc she jus got this pc from a friend who built foir them its runnin on a windows 98 OS n everything is workin fine except foir one thing the mouse. i tried to installl it usin the cd that came wit it but wen i restarted after it was installed a screen came up after the window logo that said that it dooesnt detect the mouse i have properly fit in the usb port the power to the mouse wont come on.
if anyone can help mewit this i would deeply appreciate this ty

right click on my computer> properties> hardware> device manager >
and look if there is anyproblem with mouse. install or update the driver by right clicking on the mouse item.

maybe this will minimize the situation
theres no power to the mouse at all i have it in the port in the back and i alrdy tried yhe front so idk if its the usb port or the cord
it was working fine on the other pc that it was originally in.

Just check it in another pc again. If it works then the motherboards knackered, with you saying that you even tried it in the back and there's no power to it.

ok im usin the other pc n yea it works fine
if the motherboard is bad i dont understand bcuz everyhtin else is workin jus fine on it.
would that mean that jus the usb ports is bad.
wait hold on i jus opened up the case n i noiticed thst the front usb was not connnected to the motherboard could that changed anythint to the problem
