Default Virtual Machine Q:

I'm running Vista on one HD and I have XP on another. Obviously thier's problems with certain XP programs not running on Vista. Is thier a way to boot into Vista and run a VM using the HD that has XP and all of it's previously installed programs? TIA.

Well you cant boot the hard drive itself as vm,but VMWARE allows you to export your physical OS (in your case is XP) in to VM
you have to have free hard drive space first, you need to boot XP,install vmware on it, CLONE it to VM

Yes, I think it will. I just got the programs to do it. I have VMWare Converter, VMWare Player & VMWare Workstation. I'm going to give it a shot as soon as I fix my MBR on Vista....hence the other thread

Thanks for your help.

thanks patrick, it took me a little bit but i got it. at first i thought i had to make an image and then use VMware converter to convert the image to a VM file, but no, it converts the HD as is. that and i had a bit of a problem since i have 6 HD's, the program got real picky with what HD it was going to let me use as a VM, i had to unplug them from the mobo before it would let me continue. but like i said, i got it, thanks for the help.
