Default Looping XP

I turn off my computer because it started getting really loud. Left it off over nite, the next morning when i went to start it. The Windows XP logo came on, but instead of going the screen asking you to click on user name. It
went to the black screen, that ask you how do you wish to start....You know in "Safe mode" or at orignal starting point (restore point) so when i click to start at "Windows XP" it goes to that screen....then a long time passes, and it goes right back to the black screen again that ask you where do you wish to start up....The "Safe Modes" or Windows XP....and everytime i do this....it goes right back again to the black screen.....it will start up, when i put it in "Safe mode"........Thanks for any info

sounds like a motherboard, psu or windows problem. i think (wait for others to opinunate) but you can start with the xp disk and go to the repair consol and type fixboot. there might be somethign different but...
