Default Minor issue after upgrade!

Ok so having a few teething problems with a recently completed upgrade....

Basically just installed AMD X2 6000+, Asus Crosshair Mobo, 2GB DDR2 800, ATI radeon X1950xt.

Fun and games were had with installing XP home afterwards but that seems to have been solved. Formatted the hard drive prior to that so it was from a clean slate...

Now i'm having a little issue of the system hanging every 5-10 mins. Everything stops responding for about 10 seconds and then its all fine and off again.

Temps are fine, previously checked and showed the CPU at around 32 degrees celsius....

Any ideas what might be causing it as its a little annoying!

Are you using a Belkin N1 wireless Adapter? My brother's computer hangs for a few secs every 5-10 minutes (X2 4600+) when he's using that. But i still haven't been able to figure out why. As soon as i unplug it, his computer runs fine.

I cant see any reason why the clock and voltages should be out, i would expect the bios to set them correctly seeing as its the first cpu to be entered into it. I will check it however.

No belking wireless, i use a netgear draft N internal PCI wireless card

An update to this, i am completely without stability in windows at all! After continued hanging i decided to disconnect all IDE HDD and leave just the solo SATA drive in there, reformat it and put XP onto that...

Now it wont allow me to run anything off the start menu! Its very odd in that i can load up things like the catalyst control centre quite happily by right clicking on the desktop, play around with that for a while. But the second i try to run internet explorer or sometimes even click on the start menu everything stops responding.

The mouse still moves around the screen but nothing is clickable anymore and i cant bring up task manager.

On another note, the system is absolutely fine through installing windows, installing the ATI drivers and installing the netgear drivers. No system hangs at all, only once everything is ready to go does it start causing issues!

so here we are again, gone back to using the IDE drives now as they at least allow me to fire up IE.

Everything seems to be running fine but i'm still getting these hangs every now and then, its more an annoyance than anything but i can see it being a right pain in the arse should i try out any games...

Could it be a power issue? I was fairly confident that my PSU would just about be enough to cope, 480W Antec Truepower 2

This ones still having issues so any further input would be appreciated, is this kind of error possible if one of the memory modules is defective?

Also seems that my DVD player wants to play up now. Its an NEC optiarc SATA, reads things absoutely fine but wont allow me to write to it at all, nero and a variety of others all fail at writing...

Really ready to throw this out the windown now!

I would expect BSODs if you had bad RAM. But it's worth a scan just to rule it out.

Does the little LCD screen on it say anything?

edit: are you using a single 2x2 ATX12V or the double 2x4 one?
