Default External hard drive

my neighbour has just bought a new desktop after his old one died
and the computer shop put all his old data from his HD onto an external HD
and he wants me to get the external HD working for him
could some one with experiance tell me how these things work
thanx

It's very easy. If the drive is already in an enclsoure (usb 2.0, eSata, FireWire etc) connect the appropriate cables to the new machine. Windows (assuming its windows) will recognize the drive and install the drivers. Now under my computer, find the new drive under a new drive letter.
