I have just purchased a new 400GB HDD for internal storage only. I had a 40GB in there that was working fine but wasn't required any longer. I did a clean swap using the same jumper settings, IDE cables etc. The BIOS has detected the drive and all of the master/slave configuration seems fine to me. It is recognised and working in Device Manager however I am unable to access the drive in My Computer.
Is there something I am required to do (e.g. formatting??) because it is brand spanking new??? |

Im guessing the 40 Gig is your Drive with Windows installed?
That is happenening because you have WRONG jumper settings. 40 Gig must be set too MASTER 400 Gig MUST be set too Slave.
