Default 2GB Dual Channel VS. 3GB on Laptop

i currently have 2 gigs of RAM in dual channel. here are 2 screen shots of memory usages. first one is after startup then the second one is with open programs like WoW, Photoshop, AIM, WMP, Firefox Exc. these are programs that i have open all the time.

i would like to buy a 2 gig chip (upgrading to 1g x 2g = 3g total) of ram. but i am worried about losing dual channel if i do this.....

Will losing dual channel support be more of a performance decrease than gaining an extra gig of memory in my case?

when looking at swapfile usage, it seems to be really high!!! this is what i would like to bring down by getting more RAM as well.

yea, for dual channel to run you need two sticks, or an even number.

Set your virtual memory to either 3072MB or 4096MB. I would recommend 3072MB.
