Default what type of ram do i need?

ive noticed my friends computer runs much faster and smoother in online-games, and i noticed ram must be the case since my internet is quite decent and my graphics card is the same as his.
i have a
Intel (R)
Celeron (R) CPU 2.93 GHz
2.93 GHz, 448 MB of Ram

I was wondering what type of ram do i need to purchase?
also, is this something fairly easy to install? i have installed my own graphics card before, that was pretty easy, but never installed anything else.

if you need any more information please ask.

yea ram is based on your mobo and what type it accepts... its even easier to install than your video card I'm sure... you just push it down into the slots. If you get the model number off your motherboard it will be really easy to tell you what type of ram you need

If you get RAM, get it from www.newegg.com. Dont buy from CompUSA.

alright thanks for the website, they have cheaper stuff.
right now i have 512 ram, will another 512 make a difference? i dont play high-end games like World of Warcraft, i just play Java-based games and counter strike.
the reason i ask is i dont have much money.

ok well i think ill just have to buy another 512 ram card until i get enough money for a 1gb stick.
because i need more ram so much, my computer when it comes to games is just slow enough to piss me off.
but will this work, or would you recommend something else?

I bought a dual channel set of these a while back, great memory for the price! Not the memory you would get for a huge gaming rig though

1 gig stick $55
