Will it kill my cpu's life span?

My chip isn't isn't overvolted... And I'm pretty sure i'd call it an overclock. Anyways the name Overclock itself refers to upping the clocks, not voltage, so you're statement is false.

Haha, I've upped the voltage a tad and could go 2.8. I didn't attempt any further, for some reason, but all in all I'm happy with what I got.

I've gotten mine (same as yours) to 3.1GHz. Try it. Only things Ive added are 2x case fans, better PSU, RAM heatsink, full copper HS with 43CFM fan, but still runs at like 39C idle. Try resetting the CMOS, see if the BIOS becomes unlocked.

Have you checked your temperatures once you've overclocked it? If you haven't, then i would dab in and do so, otherwise you might run into serious problems!!
Use something like Speedfan or PCWizard.
