Default Whats causing my problem? OS or video card?

well just the other day i bought a new computer from frys. here are the specs:

* Processor: AMD LIVE! Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor 4400+ (2.3GHz, 512KB+512KB L2 Cache, 2000MT/s System Bus)
* RAM: 2048MB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM memory (2x1024MB)
* Hard Drive: 320GB 7200RPM
* Video Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE Graphics with TurboCache 128MB dedicated graphics memory. 632MB Total Available Graphics Memory
* Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium
* Monitor: Samsung LCD 2 ms response time

i tried playing severals games such as warcraft 3, maplestory, and condition zero, but there is always some problem. When i play games like maplestory, the sound always seems to make some crackling noise during gameplay and it also lags by 1-2 sec. also when i play games such as condition zero, i have to put my graphic resolution at THE LOWEST for it not to lag, and even when i do put it at the lowest, it still lags a little bit. I'm really disappointed cause my old computer that has worser specs outperforms my computer during gameplay. What do u think is my problem? Is it because my OS is a vista and the games i play are not compatible, or is it because my parts suck like my graphics/sound card?

The video card is a pretty basic model, It's an SE which means it's like a light version of that card. If you wanted ATI you should have gone with the x1950. And it only has 128 meg of ram onboard. Slow by todays standards. Can you take the system back? Maybe get a different one?

If you can get an Intel dual core machine with at least 1 gig of ram and at least a 8600 video card.

Oh, I see that you bought an HP. Sorry to hear that. My first computer back in the mid 90's was an HP, What a problem that thing was. Never bought a built computer after that, always built my own.

Crackling sound could be a driver conflict with Vista. I had the same problem in my one-night stand with Vista.

As far as the bad graphical performance, the graphics card is pretty weak..

What's todays standard for a video card? Do you think my gaming performance for all my games will increase tremendously if i updated my graphics card to a geforce 8800 GTS? (i will buy a new PSU with it).

Would you advise me to downgrade my computer to a Windows XP until all the kinks are fixed and everything becomes compatible with vista? I'm very annoyed by the crackling noises i hear. (Is it likely my sound card is causing it?)

Sound is the number one reason I switched back to XP a day after installing Vista. Then again, the problems I was having very well may be fixed now, so who knows.

Whats so bad about HP? My desktop is an HP and it has been great!

Also, I've never heard of the sound problems you're experiencing in Vista. Could the sound glitches be related to the choppy video(sorry to say, but the vid card you have is crap). Try putting in a new video card and see if it fixes it. If not, try updating your sound card drivers.
