ok will put ccleaner on it and give it a try. what should and shouldnt i have ticked in ccleaner.

we use AVG, but the symmantec is there also it seemed to be grabbing viruses AVG was missing through emails. the symmantec come with laptop and once expired i will stop it.

He also was complaining when computer is left for a shorttime it gets black screen and sometimes freezes, other times it goes straight to the "wake up" when moving the mouse. This sounds like the hibernate or powersave thing is playing up.
