Default Sata Ii

How does SATA II work? One drive per SATA II plug on the mobo?

Yup. One interface cable per drive, no jumpers for master/slave settings.

Thanks for answering my stupid question, I'm one answer closer to figuring this out

I have 2 SATA II (2) slots on my board, and 1 PATA slot.. how many drives can I use per PATA slot? 2, right?

Haha, well you can get expansion cards and all with IDE ports on them... Or some computers had tons of expansions. I mean my computer has 8 SATA and 2 PATA connections Of course I'm only using one DVD-RW and one hard drive

My mobo only has 2 SATAII and 1 IDE/ATA =(

There's this other slot, looks sort of like the IDE/ATA port.. but it's shorter, do you happen to know what that is, and what it's for?

EDIT: It's called an FDD connector.. what can I do with it?

yea normally try to get a mobo and case that max out almost together... i have 6 SATA II ports and 6 3.5" bays (1 external, currently 2 in use) and one pata connection with my dvd burner off it (case has 4 5.25" bays)... want to get that running on sata tho, but so basically if I maxed out my mobo it would equally fill up the case, that was my logic.

My computer is an Acer, a pre-built.. but I've replaced the RAM, CPU, added case fans and a few other things. I got it cheap, so I'm not complaining
