Logitech mouse problems

Double post because I was directed here from the desktop section.

I've had a Logitech cordless optical mouse for quite a while. It's been out of the package, and I just never used it untill recently when my regular mouse started acting up. So I plugged in the receiver thing and put fresh batteries in the mouse. I got it to connect and work but it was too fast. So I went into control panel fixed it and it went back to the way it was. So I figured I need to download a driver. Blah blah blah got the right driver mouse works perfect untill.....you restart the computer. Then it doesn't work and I have to reconnect using the two buttons on the receiver and the mouse. That's fine for me. But my mom hates having to do it everytime the computer starts up and half the time can't get it working period. So what do I have to change so it works at start up?

The drivers should take care of that for you, I assume it's USB, is it? You could put the computer to sleep instead of Shutting down, see if that works. I used to have to do that way back when wireless first came out, I was still using a P2 with a Nvidia 128ZX 4Mb Gfx card, lol.

Nah the driver just made it so when I adjusted mouse settings they stay. It still needs to be connected each time the computer starts up. I'll put it to sleep from now on. Thanks.

Problem #2: after being on stand by for about 10 seconds it takes itself off of it. how do i stop this? i make shure the mouse is turned off, so i know its not the mouse activating it.
