I bought a q6600 today, to replace my e6600. all stock, i did no ocing.
my e6600 idles arount 23-25 celsius core temps, i installed the q6600 and it idles 50+ celsius core temps in my antec 900(lots of airflow) my mouse was jerking around like it does when i run a stress test 100% on my e6600, temps went above 60 under stress i checked over and over to make sure i had installed in correctly and had all the pins on the stock hs/f pushed down. I plan on taking it back if i cant figure out what is wrong. if anyone has any ideas that would be great antec 900 seasonic 700w evga 680i 8800gtx seagate barracuda 320gig 2gig ocz platnuim rev2 pc 6400 800mhz |

The quad core is a very hot chip. The stock intel HSF cant handle it that good. Also its 4 cores not 2 so its almost double the problem. Those should be what you get with the stock Cooling.
If it doesnt go over 75 your fine

windows popping up does not seem like a cpu problem at all. I would reinstall your Operating System.

I have a Q6600, and it is indeed hot. It idles at mid-high 50 degrees.
I changed my cpu fan to a Thermaltake V1, it dropped by 10 degrees. And check your PSU. From E6600 -> Q6600, it's a jump of more than 100 watts. If your PSU goes beyond what it can handle, your computer becomes unstable. BSOD might appear. |
