Ok so I have decided to get the vostro I talked about in other threads, I'm ordering tomorrow. One problem, when I looked at the pictures a little closer I realized that the computer doesn't have a dial up modem...that renders it almost 100% useless because where I live my options are dial-up or satellite and I can't afford satellite. My question is, is there some sort of external dial up modem I can get for this laptop, I found one, it runs through the usb somehow, but in the reviews it says it's mostly used for faxes, is this going to be able to connect me to the inet, to check my mail, talk to my friends, look up stuff...any input is helpful!

This one works with dial-up. Also, you could get a completely external modem, i.e. one with it's own powersupply with a usb cord. |

That says fax modem, is that the same thing as a dial up modem?
Edit: Also alot of the people said the modem was super slow, is there any better options/brands?

well it's a faxmodem, obviously it's going to be slow if you're used to DSL/cable.

lol no I'm used to dial-up, and also put me down as an idiot, I found that the laptop does in fact have a dial up port on the back....hidden, presumably never to be used. Haha! Dell, my poorness has outwitted you, you thought no one would ever use that little dial-up port but actually, I DO! Now whether there is a modem in there or not is the question, I heard they sometimes put the slot there just in case someone wants that option but they don't put a modem/card whatever you call it...how dumb is that.
