First of all, I'm not very knowledgeable about computers, and what I do most of the time with computer is graphic designing stuff. Not professionally, but as a hobby.

I ordered Gateway c-140 with intel core processor T7300(2.00GHz), 2MB DDR2, 12-cell battery, 80 GB hard drive, tablet pc, etc. at about $1,300. I ordered it on 7/15, they initially said that it would get here by 7/25, but I still haven't got it. They said it MIGHT get here by september.

So i'm now thinking about canceling that and buying one at retail store.
I could get hp tx1205 with AMD turion 64 1.80 GHz, 2MB DDR2, 6-cell battery, 160GB hard drive, tablet pc, at about $1150.

Now, I definitely like the gateway c-140 better, but it's like never going to get here. It just get delayed, and delayed. And I'd like to get a laptop before
school starts.

Things I don't like about hp tx1000z is the battery and the processor. My brother said AMD processor's not really good at all. But is it really? I could get this computer right now if I wanted to. So I am really torn between these two computers.

What would you recommend in this situation?

And if you'd reccommend another laptop, please do. But under $1,500 and it has to be tablet pc.

I would be really grateful if someone would shed some insights on this.

I never liked gateways they are overpriced and AMD do make good CPU
some are better then Intel.
for the most part intel are better for bussiness uses and AMD are better for game and other graphix intense uses

I would get the HP myself.

first off, your brother sounds like he doesnt know hooey. AMDs are great processors! i would encourage you to order a laptop from the HP site. there you can upgrade the processor and build your computer the way you like. id say to be patient and hold your horses; youll be far happier having the specs you want vs settling for a junky computer that youll have to put up with for 2-3 years. trust me on this. i just about bought a PoS but i waited and got the one i have now.
p.s. dont buy gateway
