Default Which is better: Dell or HP?

I got into an argument with a forum member the other day about this: which is better Dell or HP? (Im an HP fanboy, he's a Dell fanboy). Since this is a laptop thread, lets limit the discussion to only laptops.

1) Post your thoughts and experiences with either/both brands.
2) Post about which design style you like better.
3) Post about the quality and reliability of parts used by either/both brands.

Please keep flaming to a minimum

i have always liked HP and i have always hated Dell. to me, dell has projected an image of catering low-end crap for cheap to people who dont know better.
HP computers look dead sexy and have alot of extra features included that many other companies (Dell) would charge extra for (PCI remote, two headphone jacks, an HDMI port(on my dv9000), card reader, dvd burner, built in mic, you get the idea).

I'm a little biased, since I've never owned an HP laptop. I have to go with Dell. It's cheap, runs good, had no problems, and has a slew of features that I would have paid through the roof for if I had gone with an HP(remember, I'm in Canada). I also like the styling of this laptop, even though I agree HP has some pretty kickass design for their laptops. But, I still prefer funcionality over case design

Got my Dell in less than 2 weeks. None of the parts I picked had the delay notice though.
