It really depends on what you want. Kinda like AMD or Intel. For higher range graphics cards with a hefty price you can't beat ATI. Their higher range graphics cards dominate. For moderate range graphics cards NVIDIA owns the market. So unless u have over $500 to spend on just a graphics card NVIDIA is the best option.
