Default My laptop wont start up.

Hey guys,
Yesterday, my laptop wouldn't shut down so I help the power button and turned it on again. When I turned it on, the 'Windows Vista is Loading' or whatever screen comes up, but this is followed by a continuous black screen.
I left it for a few hours and tried again; exactly the same.
What do I do?
