I like the smell of gas, and fresh burnt diesel fuel. I don't like diesel fuel before it was burnt. Propane smells like something is dead....

i love the smell of a HOT, well-kept diesel engine

not the black sooty smoke, but a modern TDI type diesel engine

smells good, i think

and i also remember enjoying the smell of gas when i was young, but i've since dismissed my fondness.

i guess once you get a drivers lisence, you become so used to it, that it's no longer good nor bad, but normal

I had a straight pipe that wouldn't pass city emmisions... No muffler, no catalytic converter, no particulate filter, just a loud 4" pipe. When revving the engine, it would blow black smoke like on an older coal train.

Propane is odourless. The smell is put in there so we can smell a leak.

I had a 99 jetta with a vnt17 turbo, .177mm injector nozzles, 13mm bored fuel pump, 13" spearco intercooler, 2" intercooler plumbing, and a 2.5" straight pipe from the turbo back, with nothing but a resonator where the cat should be, and passed emissions just fine.

Did you ever actually TEST the vehicle and fail? Or are you just assuming that it WOULD HAVE failed?

Because most e-check operators don't give 2-####s whether you have a muffler and a cat on a diesel, as long as you pass the o2 and opacity test, which modern diesel engines can do with ease.

The test hasn't been updated since like 1987.

Yep, I dont sit there and sniff it, but it brings back memories of when my parents had an old diesel and I would love to ride in it at night. I especially like the sound of diesels.

It was a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500, I was told by the mechanic that installed the Cold air intake that it wouldn't pass emissions testing. B/c I showed him the incredible smoke blowing skills, I went by a friends house one day and saw him in his driveway, shifted into neutral and blew smoke all over him.
