Default Device Drivers

I used to know how to do this, but its been so long, that i forgot. Before i would reload a computer, if it was a buddys for example, and he didnt have his drivers reload cd or wahtever, for his, usb, video, nic, etc. I would copy two of his folders under his "c" drive. and i would put them on my USB. Then i would start reloading his computer. on my computer or laptop, i would combine these two folders together, and when i went into the device manager, from the newly loaded o/s, i can tell it to search in that directory for whatever device i was updating, and it would find it no problem. Anyone know what i am talking about??

what you are talking about works just fine. you are looking for the folders that contain the inf files for the devices...my ThinkPad has a drivers folder in C:\ with the inf files. You can also try the I386 folder and the INF subfolder in c:\windows...
