Default P35-DSC onboard sound, how is it?

EDIT - I MEANT THE DS3, NOT C. :\

I don't really feel like spending any money on a sound card(As i never have in the past, ever. ), But i'm wondering if the S/PDIF out will sound decent hooked up to a sony reciever with 4 speaker surround? I'm not too sure about anything other than 2 speakers (all i've ever had were the 2 cheap ones, heh.)

Thanks guys

If your a gamer or listen to music alot, get a soundcard, if not: use onboard.

Usually any sound card is better than onboard, but onboard is fine if your not an heavy gamer. Stick to onboard until you want to upgrade to an better pair of speakers or if your onboard dies or so.

I dunno, I have the P35-DS3R and I hooked up 5.1 speakers to it...In games and music, I haven't notice any difference between it and creative x-fi at all. (I put one in to test it once)
