Default 64 bit or 32 bit processor?

Hi there, new to the forum.

I am looking to buy a sony vaio laptop, some of the models have a 64 bit processor, and some have 32 bit. Is it worth paying a bit extra for a 64 bit processor, when alot of software around at the moment is still only 32 bit?

Thanks,

Picky
