Default "Overclocking" volume capacity on Windows XP (Home)?

Not sure if the title made much sense, but what I am essentially trying to do is surpass the pre-set cap on my volume bar. I know my speakers/sub can handle more sound than what my computer allows me to set it to dish out, so is it at all possible to remove the cap or even extend it to make things a bit louder?

Depends on the program. You have the program's own audio output level, the Windows output level, and the volume level on the speakers. If you want it louder get a power amp between the computer and speakers.

And don't listen too loud, you know that ruins your hearing eh?

I do and thank you for the concern, although I would only be using it for special circumstances.

With the amp, could I use the amp in the trunk of my car no problem or is there a special type I should browse for? (probably a pretty dumb question - forgive me )
